Nanny in West Delhi: Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Dwarka, and Janakpuri
In West Delhi the house is usually a floor, and both parents are out. Paschim Vihar is where this comes up most. Punjabi Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, and Pitampura are to the north. Dwarka, Janakpuri, Vikaspuri, and West Sagarpur are to the west and south-west. DLF Capital Greens, near Moti Nagar, is one of the few gated blocks in this belt. There is no single lobby that covers all of them.
When the floor is empty
In Paschim Vihar or Punjabi Bagh, the nanny is often alone with an infant from the time the door shuts. Decide who answers the bell, and how she gets there: the metro, or a room in the house if she lives in. Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura are a further ride on Outer Ring Road. “North West Delhi” is not one address when you have to leave at a fixed time.
Dwarka is not one stop
- A person who can reach Dwarka Sector 6 may not reach Sector 23 in the same half hour. Say the sector.
- Janakpuri and Vikaspuri are builder floors. Notice the stairs, and ask whether she has looked after a baby, not only an older person in the same lane.
- West Sagarpur is a local neighbourhood. Someone travelling from Gurgaon every morning will not keep this for long.
- At DLF Capital Greens, enter her with the society before the trial. A live-in only works if the flat has a room.
What holds is someone who already lives on this side of the city, or who lives with you. Tell us the colony, the Dwarka sector if that is you, and the baby’s age. A day shift from the other end of NCR is how the first week fails.

Questions families ask
What is different about hiring in Paschim Vihar?
It is individual homes, not a township gate. The block and the time you leave matter more than the colony name on its own.
Can someone travel from Gurgaon to Dwarka every day?
It looks possible on a Sunday evening. On a weekday morning it is unreliable. Someone already in Dwarka, or a live-in, is who can be there when the baby wakes.
